Have you ever noticed how your child’s intensity brings out your own?
It can be uncomfortable to reflect on those hard moments when you reacted in ways that you’re not proud of.
Thankfully, my friend and colleague, Kathy Flaminio, MSW, LGSW, E-RYT 200, and Founder of Move Mindfully, teaches mind-body-heart strategies that help you stay connected in those moments, rather than consumed.
During my recent conversation with Kathy (that we recorded so you can listen!), she walked me through a sequence of mindful movements that calm you – and your child – when both of you have gone from zero to 60.
Her strategies are so practical and don’t require any extra tools other than your hands, breath and willingness to try something short and sweet to feel calm Watch our 25-min video below.
FREE GIFT NOTICE: When you see Kathy’s calming sequence from her Move-Mindfully card deck you might want one at home. I get it. My kiddo loves these pictures because it makes breathing and calming into a fun activity!
You get her card deck and “Permission to Pause” posters ($50 value) when you register for my October cohort of Mad to Glad Blueprint. No catch. I’m buying them for you because her products go hand-in-hand with my parenting program.

I love Kathy’s pivotal moment as a social worker when she’s called into a classroom to attend to a child underneath a desk who’s completely falling apart. She realized his brain and body were in overload, and that getting on the floor helped him feel safe. So smart!I think most of us can relate to trying to talk a child down or pull them out of a tight space – and our efforts are failing!
I’m grateful Kathy teaches us a better, more strategic approach that combines the science of mindfulness with movements to navigate feelings of rage, anxiety, low energy and depression.
Kathy’s movements allow us to be in relationship with our kids, even in the intensity.
Mind. Body. Heart. That’s where the magic happens.
With love,
Samantha
