I don't often open up about the anxiety and overwhelm I experience. There are reasons behind it—I don't want to be defined by a label, and these feelings tend to come so easily to me that they feel commonplace.
Scene: I return home after a relaxing 4th of July holiday week away, dropping my bags in the entryway of our condo. 🏠 My husband Tye, our almost 3-year-old, and lovely sister-in-law unpack with ease. But suddenly, anxiety, frustration, and irritability flood me. I step away to my bedroom.
Realizing that talking or complaining won't help, I decided to meditate— it’s the first time in months. I set a timer for 10 minutes and sit down.
Afterwards, Tye sits next to me, and I share the only thing that comes to mind. ”I feel overwhelmed, sad, and scared." Not for the regular or "reasonable" reasons—we all have those, right? 😅
In this 6-minute video, I share what made me feel overwhelmed, sad, and scared. Click below to watch now.
After listening to my riff on what we do for our kids—and how to consider our own needs—I'd love to hear what triggers big feelings in you.
If you're like me, you've become skilled at concealing them, but that's not the essence of parenting—or life itself!
To overcome overwhelm and anxiety, we need the right questions from a compassionate individual who can guide us toward a new, positive direction.
Let me know how I can support you.
